SASSAIA WINES

Sassaia, a winery in Capriata d’Orba, Piedmont, draws on innovation while honoring tradition. The name, meaning “rock bed,” reflects the vineyard’s unique geological history as a former marine basin. Led by Enrico de Alessandrini, an Italian-American winemaker, the winery combines Burgundian winemaking techniques with Piedmont’s terroir, using sustainable, SQNPI-certified practices.
Sassaia focuses on both indigenous and international grape varietals to produce elegant, harmonious wines. Their Derthona Platinum was recognized as the second-best white wine in Piedmont by Falstaff Magazine in 2021. The winery’s process starts with delicate hand-harvesting, soft pressing, and minimal intervention, leveraging modern science and technology to enhance fermentation and aging. Solar-powered, temperature-controlled environments ensure the wines mature in optimal conditions, creating wines loved by connoisseurs and Michelin-starred restaurants in the USA and Europe
